The Sheffield Biomedical Robotics Laboratory was established in 2015. It is led by Dr. Dana Damian, Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering, The University of Sheffield.

Our mission is to develop bionic and assistive robots that show life-like behavior and sustained operation in order to achieve long-term adaptive healthcare. We exploit the computational interplay between materials, structures and mechanics. We take a hierarchical approach to developing robots for healthcare: materials, fabrication, and control.

Key concepts: soft robots, embodied artificial intelligence, and human development.
